Why is there a tendency for ink to overshadow or stick on darker backgrounds?

When printing a 4-color black or relatively dark background color in daily work, sometimes there may be issues with the background ink being too low or sticking, resulting in unqualified printing quality. If not discovered in a timely manner, the economic losses caused are irreparable, and if it involves issues such as customer delivery deadlines, it is even more maddening.


To avoid such problems, we are required to handle prepress documents before printing on the machine.


For example, if the color values of four colors such as C, M, Y, and K are all 100% and almost all the pages are full, such a document may have a slight oversight when printing on the machine, and there may be printing ink that is too low or stuck.

Usually, when we encounter such files, we make corresponding adjustments to the background color. We will change the value of C, M, Y to 30% or 40%, and K to 90% or not. This method basically avoids the phenomenon of ink overshadowing or sticking due to the large base area and deep color.
